Po’ Boys & Pickles

I am sad to say that the po’ boy I consumed while visiting New Orleans was nothing to write home (or blog) about.  On the bright side, we recently visited Po’ Boys & Pickles when we were looking for a quick lunch on our way through Portland, Maine and were much more impressed with their po’ boys.

I tried the Mufaletta Po’ Boy, and my husband tried the Debris Po’ Boy.  We were both happy with our choices.  We were also impressed to find Abita beers on the menu; it’s the only place outside of New Orleans that I have seen this as an option.  Since we were stopping in for lunch, I decided to try one of their milkshakes instead–also a good choice, and offered in a variety of flavors.

So for a quick lunch, take-out, or late night snack, this place is WAY better than Subway any day!  Next time I think I’ll pick up some gumbo to go…

I’ve meant to stop here for ages, but it’s been pushed to the back of my mind. I love po’ boys, Abita’s good too, and I’m been clamoring for a milkshake for weeks. Next time I’m down in Portland, I’ll make a definite case for stopping!
